Shield of Justice
Justice · Book 1
The story
Detective Sergeant Rebecca Frye is struggling to identify the person behind a series of sexual assaults when a surviving witness offers a possible breakthrough. Access to that witness brings her into conflict with Dr. Catherine Rawlings, whose first responsibility is her patient’s recovery. Their professional priorities do not align easily, even though both want the violence to stop. Cooperation forces them to confront fears that reach beyond the immediate investigation, and attraction adds another layer to an already difficult partnership. As Rebecca searches for evidence before another attack occurs, Catherine must weigh the demands of justice against the needs of someone in her care. Working together means building trust without assuming that shared intentions erase the differences between protecting a case and protecting a person.
