P.S. I Miss You
2018
The story
Evie writes letters to her older sister, Cilla, after their parents send Cilla away following a pregnancy. The letters become a place to talk about school, family rules and questions that feel difficult to ask out loud. Evie also begins developing feelings for June, making her conservative household’s expectations more personal and confusing. As she waits for connection with her absent sister, she has to consider what honesty might mean for her own future. Jen Petro-Roy’s middle-grade novel uses a younger sister’s correspondence to explore religion, family separation and the discovery of a first crush, with Evie’s emerging identity at the center of her story.
