Mutual Benefits

Hannah Melville's family responds enthusiastically when she accidentally gives them the impression that she is gay. Their acceptance would be reassuring if it matched Hannah's understanding of herself. Ashley West, meanwhile, has no interest in being pushed into a relationship, and the blind date arranged by her mother becomes even stranger when she learns Hannah considers herself straight. What follows is a fake relationship designed to manage other people's expectations, complicated by two mothers who are far too invested in its success. This romantic comedy follows the awkward gap between the story the women agree to tell and the feelings that may not remain as easy to categorize or control.
