Mind Games

Kelsey Granger wants her new job at the coroner’s office to prove that a past failure does not define her. Her boss is not convinced she is ready to investigate alone, and her first murder scene does little to settle the question. Patrol officer Zara Hayes is already there, apparently interfering with the evidence and struggling with her own fear of death scenes. Zara needs to overcome that fear to advance her career; Kelsey needs a chance to establish herself. Neither has much patience for the other’s difficulties. A killer still needs to be found, however, and working together gradually changes their first impressions. The investigation draws them closer to danger and to a relationship neither expected from such an unpromising introduction.
