Mercy

Dusty Song has exchanged a career in rock music for the work of a U.S. Marshal, protecting people whose lives are threatened by the cases they are involved in. Judge Mercedes Bidwell initially strikes her as formidable, difficult and entirely at home in the courtroom. Years later, disturbing reports bring Dusty back to a case connected with the judge, and the woman she encounters no longer fits that confident memory. Revisiting their connection means looking beyond the professional roles and first impressions that have kept them apart. As the circumstances around the case demand attention, Dusty and Mercedes begin to recognize the vulnerabilities beneath each other’s defenses. Their relationship develops through the uneasy work of trust, protection and being seen accurately.
