Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy: A Modern Graphic Retelling of Little Women
2019
The story
The March sisters are growing up in modern Brooklyn, where school, money and family worries compete with the ambitions each holds for herself. Their father is deployed overseas, leaving their mother to manage work and the household while Meg, Jo, Beth and Amy try to find useful ways to help. They do not always agree on what being helpful—or being grown up—should look like. Romantic feelings, creative dreams and questions of identity add their own complications, including Jo’s discovery of what her attraction to girls means for her future. This graphic retelling of Little Women follows a blended family through everyday arguments and larger crises, keeping the sisters’ different perspectives at the center of their shared story.
