Light From Uncommon Stars

Violin teacher Shizuka Satomi has promised the devil seven talented souls in exchange for saving her own. Six musicians have already paid the price, and Katrina Nguyen, a gifted young trans runaway, appears to be the final student she needs. But Shizuka's carefully managed bargain grows complicated when she meets Lan Tran, a refugee from another world who runs a doughnut shop with her family. Attraction and unexpected responsibility begin pulling her away from the future she thought was settled. As Katrina searches for safety and a place for her music, these three lives converge around questions of belonging, ambition and what people owe one another when escape comes at someone else's expense.
