It's Not Like It's a Secret

Sana Kiyohara is used to keeping uncomfortable thoughts to herself, from doubts about her friendships to suspicions about her father’s marriage. Moving to California offers a possible chance to start differently. Meeting Jamie Ramirez makes that possibility more urgent: Jamie is a girl Sana cannot easily stop thinking about. But attraction develops amid tensions between their friendship groups, attention from a boy who likes Sana and growing problems at home. Being honest about wanting to date a girl is only one part of the challenge. Sana also has to navigate what follows that honesty, as family loyalties, cultural assumptions and romantic hopes complicate her attempt to build a life with fewer secrets.
