In the Role of Brie Hutchens…

Brie Hutchens wants to be an actor, but eighth grade at her Catholic school is already giving her plenty of drama. When her mother nearly catches her looking at photographs of an actress, Brie invents a distraction: she claims she has been chosen for the school’s important Mary Crowning ceremony. The lie creates a problem that cannot be solved by simply changing the subject. Brie turns toward Kennedy, the accomplished classmate who seems to know how to do everything right, and finds her feelings becoming harder to dismiss. Between soap-opera dreams, family expectations and questions about who she is, Brie must work out how to tell a truth she is only beginning to understand.
