In a Heartbeat

Police officer Sam McKenna is comfortable confronting danger, but commitment is another matter. After a failed relationship, she returns to keeping intimacy temporary and uncomplicated. Trauma surgeon Riley Connolly has her own carefully maintained boundaries, including a family that does not know she is a lesbian. When a police call brings Sam to Riley's hospital, a life-threatening incident forces the women into an immediate connection. Their attraction continues beyond the emergency, raising questions neither can answer through professional competence alone. Sam's reluctance to settle down and Riley's guarded personal life leave them with different reasons to hesitate, even as the possibility of a relationship becomes increasingly difficult to dismiss.
