Night Call

Medevac helicopter pilot Jett McNally wants the demands of flying to keep her focused on the present. The experiences she brought home from the Middle East are harder to leave behind, and taking risks can feel easier than confronting them. Anesthesiologist Tristan Holmes understands pressure, but she has arranged her personal life around casual encounters and few expectations. Jett’s insistence that she wants nothing lasting should suit her perfectly. Instead, it unsettles Tristan in ways she does not expect. Working around emergency medicine and dangerous flights brings the women into one another’s orbit, where practiced independence begins to look less straightforward. Each must consider what she is protecting by keeping intimacy temporary, and what that protection might be costing her.
