I'm the Girl

Georgia Avis wants a way beyond the limits of her small-town life. Finding the body of thirteen-year-old Ashley changes that hope into a more urgent search for answers. Georgia joins forces with Ashley’s older sister, Nora, whose grief gives their investigation a painful focus. As the girls grow closer, they encounter a world where wealth and influence protect people who expect to remain beyond scrutiny. Georgia’s attraction to that world complicates her efforts to understand it. Looking for a killer becomes inseparable from recognizing how vulnerable girls are treated by those with power. To keep asking questions, she must confront the promises that once made privilege seem like an escape.
