Guardian

Luna has mastered the magic and combat expected of a Guardian, yet the soulmate promised by her people's traditions has never appeared. Her unusually long solitude makes her an exception in a society that regards that bond as fundamental. She continues to hope that waiting will eventually be worthwhile. Gia's arrival seems to answer that longing while creating questions Luna has never needed to face. Gia lives among humans, maintains a human appearance and is already engaged to a man. The life she has chosen does not fit the certainty Luna has been taught to expect. Their meeting forces Luna to reconsider whether destiny alone can sustain love when another person's attachments and choices complicate the promise.
