Elliot McHugh arrives at college with enthusiasm, appetites and very little interest in choosing a major. At Emerson in Boston, she would rather discover new friends, parties and sexual possibilities than commit to a tidy plan for adulthood. Freedom, however, brings awkward decisions alongside the fun. Her roommate’s boyfriend, looming academic responsibilities and the patience of her resident adviser Rose all complicate the experience Elliot imagined. As attraction and friendship become harder to separate from the consequences of her choices, she has to reconsider what growing up might require. This campus coming-of-age story follows a bisexual freshman learning about herself through a particularly messy first year.
