Chasing Shadows

Avery Smith returns to Bethel Springs to help her ageing grandmother, taking up work as a deputy in the town she has come back to. A dead body brings an investigation into that new routine, and television personality Cameron Reinhart complicates it further with a claim that should be impossible: she has seen the victim after death. Avery must work out what to make of Cameron's account while following a case that challenges ordinary explanations. Attraction adds another layer to a partnership already built around uncertain evidence. Between family responsibilities, police work and the possibility of something supernatural, Avery's return becomes far less predictable than she expected.
