Backwards to Oregon

Luke Hamilton has built a life by presenting as a man and expects that choice to mean remaining alone. Nora Macauley, a single mother who has spent years working in a brothel, has stopped expecting romance to provide a route toward security. A marriage between them offers a practical arrangement as they set out along the Oregon Trail. The long journey requires cooperation through uncertainty, bringing two guarded people into a closeness neither planned. Yet trust develops alongside information each has kept private, and the future they seek depends on more than simply reaching their destination. This historical romance follows survival becoming companionship, with gender presentation, concealed history and the hope of a different life shaping every step westward.
