Ascension

Alana Quick understands starship engines better than she understands how to escape the precarious life she has built on Heliodor City. When a cargo ship arrives looking for her sister Nova, Alana sees an opportunity and stows away, hoping her mechanical skills will earn her a place aboard. Instead, she finds a crew with strange abilities, hidden troubles and a captain she cannot easily stop thinking about. Nova’s importance turns out to reach well beyond the sisters’ relationship, and pursuing her brings Alana into a conflict with terrifying consequences. To survive, Alana will need more than technical ingenuity: she must decide whom to trust and what kind of belonging she is willing to fight for.
