A GOOD HAPPY GIRL

Helen is a lawyer who has learned to keep the most painful parts of her life separate from the rest. Encounters with lesbian couples, affection for her grandmother and flirtation at work provide distractions from a troubling crime committed by her parents. Meeting married women Catherine and Katrina disrupts that arrangement. Their attention becomes increasingly intimate, drawing Helen toward a relationship in which emotional distance is difficult to preserve. As they question the life she presents, memories of an earlier family tragedy begin to surface. Her father's request for help with parole offers another route toward answers. Desire, dependence and unresolved history converge as Helen considers what she is willing to ask for.
