10 Things I Can See From Here
2017
The story
Maeve has heard every version of the advice to stop worrying. None of it changes the severe anxiety that fills her mind with possible disasters. When her mother leaves for six months, Maeve moves to Vancouver to stay with her father, whose uncertain sobriety adds another source of concern. Her pregnant stepmother’s plans and the unfamiliar household give her plenty more to anticipate. Then Maeve meets Salix, a girl whose apparent fearlessness draws her into a tentative romance. Falling in love does not switch off anxiety, but it introduces new possibilities alongside the fears. Maeve must find ways to care for herself and others without waiting for life to become perfectly safe.
