Valiant Ladies

By daylight, Kiki de Sonza and Ana Lezama de Urinza are expected to behave like respectable young women. At night, they carry weapons through the streets of seventeenth-century Potosí, seeking adventure and acting on a sense of justice that polite society cannot contain. Their partnership is also a romance, one complicated by the future others intend for them. When Kiki’s engagement is announced and her brother is murdered, the two begin investigating a crime that reaches across the city’s social divisions. Moving between powerful households and disreputable establishments, they encounter corruption that places their own lives at risk. Their bond anchors a historical adventure inspired by the figures known as the Valiant Ladies.
