The Noble and the Nightingale

Adella del Amanecer gives her days to diplomacy and service to Sarras, leaving little room for a private life. A beautiful bard on a street corner becomes a welcome distraction from the duties that consume her time. Bridget Leir has good reason to appreciate a quiet existence: she was once a spy for the Firellian Empire and has come to Sarras to escape that past. Their chance meeting develops into romance, offering both women something their former lives have denied them. Then the threat of war turns attention toward Firellia. Revealing Bridget's history could make her look like an enemy operative and Adella a traitor, forcing their relationship into the centre of a dangerous political suspicion.
