The Kill Club

Jazz has escaped the household where she grew up, but her thirteen-year-old brother Joaquin is still living with their increasingly dangerous foster mother. Attempts to get help through child services have failed, and Jazz fears that waiting will cost him his life. An anonymous caller offers an alternative: a network of people who kill one another's abusers, keeping each murder separate from its obvious beneficiary. Someone will deal with Joaquin's foster mother if Jazz first kills a stranger. The proposal turns her desperation into a brutal moral bargain. Entering the network means trusting people she cannot see, with consequences that may reach far beyond the person she is trying to protect.
