The Girls I've Been

Nora O’Malley has spent five years trying to live beyond the identities her con-artist mother taught her to perform. An awkward morning at the bank with her girlfriend Iris and ex-boyfriend Wes should be an ordinary problem, if an uncomfortable one. Then armed robbers take them hostage, and Nora’s carefully maintained normality is no longer useful. Keeping her friends alive may require the manipulation and quick thinking she hoped she would never need again. As the crisis unfolds, her past becomes both a resource and a danger she cannot neatly separate from herself. Nora must decide which of the girls she has been can help her survive—and what using those skills will reveal to the people beside her.
