The Actress: Canceling Cordelia

Marriage has not magically made Cordelia Wainwright comfortable with disorder. Accustomed to emotional distance and immaculate surroundings, she now shares her life with a wife whose warmth and untidiness challenge both. The domestic future she once struggled to imagine brings motherhood, in-laws, and a succession of demands that cannot be managed by keeping everything spotless. As love pushes against familiar habits, Cordelia must reckon with the person she presents to others and the woman she wants to become. Continuing the story begun in The Curious Case of Cordelia Wainwright, this comic sapphic romance looks beyond the wedding to the awkward, vulnerable work of building a family—and allowing herself to belong in it.
