Shattered

Shattergirl has stopped answering humanity’s calls for help. A powerful alien guardian and Black lesbian superheroine, she has withdrawn from the people she is expected to save. Tracker Lena Martin is assigned to bring her back, with only a few days to finish the job. Lena’s confidence and verbal agility have served her well when pursuing other reluctant guardians, but Shattergirl presents a different challenge. Their confrontation exposes more than professional disagreement as each woman’s guarded public identity begins to give way. Understanding why Shattergirl left may matter as much as persuading her to return. This speculative romance pairs a determined human tracker with a disillusioned superheroine, testing what duty means when the person carrying it has reached her limit.
