In the Unified American Territories, education is compulsory and the debt it creates can become a sentence. People unable to repay their loans face a state process that removes the knowledge they acquired, with consequences extending beyond what they remember. Recent graduate Fletcher Daniels is already struggling when Reclamation Agents appear in her life.
