Making It

BETWEEN THE COVERS

The story

At twenty-eight, Isobel has built a small, manageable life with her mother and her pet chinchilla on the Kentish coast. Her art usually celebrates the chinchilla, Abigail, until those creations attract the attention of television artist Elizabeth Staggs. An offer to spend a year working on Elizabeth’s documentary series takes Issy to London and far beyond her familiar routine. New flatmates welcome her into their queer household, and her attraction to aspiring actress Robin opens another unfamiliar possibility. Work brings its own pressures, particularly a demanding producer and an increasingly complicated project. Making It follows Issy’s attempts to find room for ambition, community and love while living with depression.
