Great or Nothing

The story
In 1942, the March sisters are living with Beth’s absence as the United States enters the Second World War. Jo leaves home for work in a Connecticut aircraft factory, Meg remains in Concord, and Amy heads to London with the Red Cross. Each sister seeks a purpose that might help her move through grief, but distance creates new difficulties in a family already changed by loss. Their separate paths bring work, desire and questions of independence into sharper focus. Told through the sisters’ perspectives, this reimagining of Little Women includes Jo’s sapphic story within a wider account of family loyalty and the uncertain futures available to young women during wartime.
