Give My Love to Berlin
2025
The story
In 1927 Berlin, Tillie and her girlfriend Ruth belong to a lively queer community centered on friendship, performance and the possibility of living openly. That freedom becomes increasingly precarious as the Nazi Party gains influence, including within Tillie's own family. Her work in her father's law office brings her close to plans whose consequences threaten Ruth, who is Jewish, and the people they love. Decades later, Thea's grandmother begins experiencing dementia, and hidden evidence draws Thea toward a history she never knew. Moving between these periods, the novel follows sapphic and gay relationships under mounting repression while considering how private memories survive, disappear and reach another generation through the secrets families keep.
