Fat Angie

Angie is trying to get through school after a public suicide attempt, while bullying and a painful home life leave her with few places to feel safe. Her sister has been captured in Iraq, and Angie remains unwilling to give up hope that she will return. Adults offer little comfort, and classmates continue reducing her to cruel names. Then KC Romance arrives, a girl whose attention does not seem governed by the same assumptions. Their connection offers Angie an unfamiliar possibility: being seen without first being judged. This young-adult novel follows grief, vulnerability and attraction as Angie struggles to imagine a life larger than the roles other people have assigned her.
