Everyone in This Room Will Someday Be Dead

Gilda cannot stop thinking about death. An anxious young lesbian estranged from her family, she follows a notice offering free therapy to a Catholic church and is mistaken for an applicant to replace its recently deceased receptionist. Too uncomfortable to correct the misunderstanding, she accepts the job. Keeping her beliefs and girlfriend out of sight is difficult enough before she begins replying to messages intended for her predecessor, Grace. What starts as an attempt to spare someone grief becomes an impersonation she struggles to stop. When questions arise about Grace's death, Gilda's overlapping evasions become harder to manage. This darkly comic novel follows a woman trying to be kind while finding everyday life, honesty and her own fears almost unbearably complicated.
