Dear Medusa

At school, Alicia Rivers is surrounded by rumours that conceal what actually happened to her: she was sexually abused by a popular teacher. The experience has changed her relationship with her body and with the people around her. Her best friend has abandoned her, she has left the track team, and detention has become another place to feel unseen. Then anonymous letters in her locker suggest that someone else may have been hurt. At the same time, attraction to a new girl challenges Alicia's efforts to keep everyone at a distance. Told in verse, her story follows the difficult work of reclaiming a voice others have tried to define.
