Bang Bang Bodhisattva

Kiera earns her living hacking for hire in a future that has delivered more precarity than technological promise. Working with private investigator Angel Herrera means tolerating his old-fashioned detective routine in exchange for jobs that help cover the bills. Then someone close to Herrera is murdered, and Kiera's new crush disappears under horrifying circumstances. The cases share a distinctive trace of incense and enough connections to make Kiera a suspect in both. She would prefer never to work with Herrera again, but clearing her name requires help she cannot easily replace. Their strained partnership becomes the only practical response to a mystery that has turned her personal life into evidence.
