Aunt Tigress

Tam has worked hard to put distance between herself and a violent past, including the appetites she would rather not remember. Her carefully managed life is disrupted when her aunt is murdered and an unsettling inheritance arrives: an undead fox in a shoebox. The death pulls Tam back toward supernatural forces and old debts she had hoped to leave behind. Meanwhile, the girl she is falling for may be connected to that history in ways Tam does not understand. Set in Calgary and shaped by Chinese folklore and Siksiká traditions, this urban fantasy combines monstrous family complications with a sapphic love story, asking what accountability and a different future might look like for someone accustomed to being feared.
