Afterlove

Ash Persaud falls for Poppy Morgan during a school trip, discovering a first love that makes the future feel newly possible. Then an accident on New Year's Eve ends her life before that future can unfold. Death does not bring simple closure: Ash finds herself assigned a supernatural role, collecting the souls of others who have died. The work places her near the world she has lost while keeping her separated from the person she most wants to see. Unable to forget Poppy, she looks for a way to cross that divide. Tanya Byrne's young-adult novel follows a romance interrupted by death, exploring attachment, separation and the difficulty of letting go when love still feels unfinished.
