A Whisper of Solace

Neve Blackthorne has made power and composure essential to her position at a successful Hollywood studio. Her reputation depends on remaining formidable, and emotional exposure threatens the careful control she has built around herself. An involvement with Audrey Avens, a rising figure within her company, appears at first to be something she can keep contained. The relationship instead reaches parts of her life that professional authority cannot manage. Desire becomes entangled with fear, and the image Neve presents in public offers little guidance for what happens in private. Milena McKay's romance follows a woman confronting the distance between an apparently invulnerable persona and the needs that persist beneath it, where loving someone may demand more than allowing a temporary exception.
