Macarena enters prison with little preparation for the rules that govern life beyond its official routines. She must learn whom to trust, how to protect herself and what parts of her former life she can still recognize. Her growing relationship with fellow prisoner Rizos becomes one of the story’s significant emotional connections, offering desire and companionship in a place where both can create new vulnerabilities. The romance is particularly important in the first two seasons, while the wider ensemble changes and other relationships develop later. The original prison drama treats love as one force among many shaping the women’s decisions, alongside fear, loyalty and the need to survive.
