The return of two brothers to their home region unsettles a rural community dominated by a powerful landowner and the secrets surrounding his family. Against that wider struggle, Isabel Lobo resists the life arranged for her by a father who expects obedience. Her attraction to Cristina crosses boundaries of class, reputation and family authority, becoming a relationship both women must fight to protect. Desire offers escape without removing the danger of being caught. The historical drama blends family conflict and action with this substantial sapphic romance in its later seasons. Isabel and Cristina's story is part of the larger ensemble, and its presence should not be assumed in censored international versions.
