Four first-year roommates arrive at Essex College with very different ideas about freedom, sex and success. As friendships form, the gap between their confident public faces and private worries becomes harder to maintain. Leighton’s coming-out and romantic experiences provide a substantial sapphic storyline in the first two seasons, while later characters bring their own queer experiences to campus.
