Bette Porter, Alice Pieszecki and Shane McCutcheon return to a Los Angeles that has changed alongside them. Their personal and professional lives intersect with a younger group navigating ambition, friendship, identity and relationships, including Sophie, Finley, Dani and Gigi. Familiar attachments coexist with new possibilities as the ensemble makes room for different generations of queer experience. This sequel follows its own continuing stories while drawing on relationships established in The L Word, including Bette and Tina's complicated history. Multiple substantial sapphic romances run through the series, making it an ensemble relationship drama rather than a show organised around one lead couple. It is a separate television series from the original.
