A medical examiner returns to Virginia and finds an unsettling connection between a new murder and a case from decades earlier. Professional rivalries and family tensions complicate a search for answers that reaches into her own history. Kay’s niece Lucy brings technical expertise to the investigation while confronting a personal loss of her own. Lucy’s sapphic story is part of this wider crime drama, rather than the show’s main premise. Sapphic storyline: season 1, within the crime ensemble.
