Four young Huntresses train to protect a world where monsters are only one of the dangers they will face. Ruby, Weiss, Blake and Yang begin as teammates, but the challenges beyond their school turn that partnership into a test of loyalty, grief and the people they hope to become. Blake and Yang’s connection develops over a long stretch of the adventure before becoming explicitly romantic in the ninth volume. Their confession is a significant emotional moment within an action-driven ensemble, rather than the premise of every earlier installment. This profile follows the original American animated series and distinguishes it from its separate adaptations and spin-offs.
