Tommy Egan arrives in Chicago determined to build a new position in a city whose criminal alliances are already tightly drawn. Claudia Flynn wants to escape the limited role her family has assigned her, and an opportunity involving Mai offers a way to claim power for herself. Their personal connection and business plans become difficult to separate as the risks grow. The crime drama gives this relationship a consequential place in its first season, where attraction does not make either woman safe from ambition or mistrust. Around them, rival organizations test the loyalties of people who know that every partnership can become a weakness as quickly as an advantage.
