Lizzy and Luke have a plan to become parents together if the rest of their lives refuse to fall neatly into place. Their friendship feels solid enough to support a family, until Luke falls in love and suddenly the arrangement has another adult at its center. Lizzy must work out how to protect the future she imagined without treating every change as a threat. Her life as a lesbian, including the awkwardness of dating, remains part of the comedy rather than disappearing behind the parenting premise. The short-lived sitcom treats chosen family as a practical experiment, complete with competing expectations, household negotiations and affection that does not always look conventional.
