Five nurses arrive at a busy Toronto hospital with different histories and a shared need to prove themselves. Long shifts and difficult patients quickly make their colleagues part of their personal lives, whether or not they planned it that way. Ashley Collins thrives on the speed and intensity of the work, but confidence on the ward does not make every intimate decision straightforward. Her relationship with Caro develops alongside the professional pressures and friendships shaping the new team. The medical drama gives that romance a recurring place within its ensemble, rather than making the hospital a backdrop for a single central couple. Its sapphic scope is clearest in the first season's relationship episodes.
