Different generations of teenagers pass through the schools, friendships and family conflicts of a long-running Brazilian drama. In the Viva a Diferença season, five girls from different backgrounds form a bond that changes the way each understands her place in the world. Lica’s growing connection with Samantha becomes one of that season’s important romantic stories, asking both to reconsider assumptions about attraction and belonging. Their relationship develops within a wider portrait of adolescence shaped by class, prejudice and the need to be heard. The relevant sapphic arc belongs to this particular chapter of the serial, giving it room to matter without implying that every earlier season follows the same characters or themes.
