Paco Miranda and his colleagues approach police work with a mixture of loyalty, poor judgment and determination, making professional crises difficult to separate from family life. When Paco's sister Pepa enters the story, her connection with forensic officer Silvia becomes one of the ensemble's major emotional arcs. Attraction grows into a relationship that must navigate old history, family reactions and the hazards of the work surrounding them. Their story gives the police comedy-drama a developed sapphic romance without changing its broader focus on the precinct and the people attached to it. The relevant relationship belongs to specific seasons of the original run, rather than to every chapter of the long-running franchise.
