Cruz Manuelos is recruited into a covert operation that asks her to get close to a target's daughter, Aaliyah Amrohi. The assignment depends on personal trust, but the feelings that emerge make the boundary between cover and genuine attachment increasingly difficult to maintain. Around Cruz, the Lioness team balances dangerous missions with the costs those missions impose on private lives. Later developments include her relationship with helicopter pilot Josie Carrillo. This espionage thriller contains a substantial sapphic story through a major co-lead rather than functioning primarily as a romance. Its appeal lies in the collision between professional obligation and intimate feeling, with Cruz's relationships carrying consequences within the wider intelligence plot.
