When a financial scandal upends her life in New York, Gala travels to a Spanish wine town with her mother Julia and teenage daughter Kate. The three generations try to begin again in a place tied to Julia’s past, but family secrets and new complications follow them. Kate’s relationship with Maggie and her experience of arriving in an unfamiliar community form part of her own coming-of-age story. She is a sapphic co-lead within the family ensemble, rather than the series’ only protagonist.
