An alien arrival is experienced through people scattered across the world, whose ordinary lives become part of a much larger struggle to survive and understand the threat. Japanese communications specialist Mitsuki Yamato searches for answers after a space mission goes wrong. Her bond with astronaut Hinata Murai gives her investigation a deeply personal urgency. Mitsuki is a principal character in a global ensemble, and her love for another woman is consequential to her story rather than incidental background information.
